It was late. Pietro could hear the clock in the kitchen ticking away quietly as he stood in the doorway of the junk-he mentally corrected himself-nursery, shifting on his feet as he watched the twins, his boys, sleeping. A duck-shaped nightlight threw a dim golden glow into the room, illuminating two tiny little faces, so similar in appearance and yet so different.

He smiled softly and leaned against the doorjamb, careful not to make any noise. Jared and Roic had finally settled down into a normal sleeping pattern, and he didn't want to disturb them. Not when he and Lance were finally able to sleep more than three hours at a stretch.

Roic liked to be swaddled when he slept. Jared was more laid back and slept splayed out all over the place, chubby arms and legs akimbo. It wasn't easy, the speedster thought, but it wasn't totally impossible. To his chagrin he had come to realize that Lance was right - not that he would ever admit it to him. It was easier and more practical for him to work from home, except on his husband's days off. Then he went to the office for a few hours, which was good for everyone in the apartment because it got him *out* of the apartment. It wasn't easy. But it wasn't impossible. He watched as Jared stirred, shifting his weight and sighing quietly. He wondered idly what he was dreaming about. So absorbed was he that he didn't even notice Lance coming up behind him until he spoke.

"Hey, 'Tro," he said quietly, and Pietro jumped, turning to look over his shoulder. If you looked up "exhaustion" in the dictionary, you would see a picture of Lance. Dark bags had taken up residence below his eyes, as well as a set of shallow wrinkles that Pietro had never noticed before. His hair was mussed and sticking out in every direction, and he was rubbing sleep from his eyes. "Everything alright?"

"Yeah," Pietro replied, turning his attention back to the boys. "I couldn't sleep. Thought I'd check on them, since I'm awake." Lance yawned hugely behind his hand and nudged his husband gently.

"You've been up for hours, bunny. Come back to bed."

"I'm not tired."  He was lying, of course, and Lance knew it; Pietro swayed slightly on his feet and Lance reached out a hand to steady him.

"Come on. If you stay awake any longer you're going to be sleeping on your feet." Pietro nodded and yawned, already feeling the first vestiges of sleep creeping up on him. With one last look behind him at his slumbering children he allowed Lance to steer him down the hallway and back into the bedroom. He all but collapsed face-first onto the bed, conjuring up just enough energy to slither under the blanket. Lance fell in beside him, mumbling sleepily as he slung an arm around his husband's shoulders. He was asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. Pietro shifted from his stomach onto his side-his surgical scar still ached if he laid on it funny-with a huge yawn, muffling it with his pillow. With Lance’s even breathing lulling him into drowsiness, it wasn't long before he too fell into dreamland.
Hurr, original titles are not my strong suit.

This was written for LooseScrapper's "Against All Odds" universe, and it was really intimidating writing it because her comic is *so good* and I didn't want to screw up the characters. Hence why Pietro only has 15 words of dialogue. XD

I hope she likes it. This is the first time I've ever written fanfiction for anyone before, so I'd appreciate any feedback. Also, my tenses have a habit of jumping around without me noticing it, so if anyone notices some tenses wandering around where they shouldn't be, let me know. XD

I hope I didn't make them too sappy. They're not exactly the sappy type. I really, *really* want to do an epic crossover with this mpreg universe and the one some friends of mine and I do, but our mpreg is in the Avatar: The Last Airbender world so it wouldn't make any sense. XDD

Lance and Pietro=not mine.
